I’m so impressed that customer/student Jannet Michael’s first watermelon portrait got local TV news coverage in Reading Pennsylvania. Her Pope Francis watermelon carving was her very first watermelon portrait after watching and learning from my Portrait Course. She did a fantastic job.
Pope Francis Watermelon Carving is One of a Rind
After taking your portrait carving class, my first effort made it to local TV. Here’s the link that you might enjoy, http://www.wfmz.com/news/berks/local-woman-honors-pope-francis-with-watermelon-carving_20160530054859854/20877012.
After receiving Jannet’s email and photos, I wrote back to tell her what phenomenal job she had done for her very first carved portrait. I asked how the her local news discovered her and her watermelon carving of the Pope. Here’s her response.
Thanks Nita. Yeah, I had it posted on my Facebook and one of my FB friend was really impressed and said she felt a chill when she saw my carved watermelon pope Portrait. So, she told me that she is going to call the local newspaper and before you know it the local TV called me also for interview. It was ” West Lawn woman’s Pope Francis carving is one of a rind ” in the local newspaper Reporter’s Notebook headline.
You can see the how closely Jannet’s watermelon portrait resembles the Pope as seen in the photo below.
Jannet did a great job of applying what she learned in my Portrait Course! I thought that her watermelon portraits might inspire you to carve images or your friends, family or celebrities for your next event. If you want to carve faces onto watermelons (or pumpkins), you’ll love my Portrait Carving Course that you can get in my Online Shop.
A big thank you goes out to Jannet for sharing her Pope watermelon carving and her story with us.
