When I set out to create my Vegetable and Fruit Carving Course 101 for Beginners I really wanted my students to experience success right away. I want them to have creative satisfaction and get oooohs and aaaaahs from friends and family. Based on my own experiences, I knew they would. My goal was…and is…..to eliminate some of the frustration that comes with starting out and now knowing where to learn or what tools to buy and which books are a waste of money.
And so, it’s so rewarding to hear from students like this one.
Words of a Happy Student of
Vegetable and Fruit Carving Course
Here is the email that I received just yesterday from a student of my 11 week Vegetable and Fruit Carving Course 101 for beginners. It makes me happy because she it confirms what I set out to accomplish.
You have done a wonderful job on your videos. I am glad that even if things don’t work out the way it was planned you have kept those sections in and did not remove them from the videos. It is good for us students to see that we can alter a look or idea that we don’t simply have to throw it out. “it is an opportunity to make a different flower” as you would say. 😉 You go through the steps slowly without skipping anything and the recap and the shopping list, and how the fruit or vegetable looks after days have passed is such a wonderful touch. The way you come across on the video is like you have a relationship with the viewer, a friend. This is also enhanced with the comments that you make such as “I don’t know what you call this but I am going to call it…”, or sayings, or memories of something. These things make it more personal and more relaxing for the viewer and add a personal touch.
I realize there is a lot of time spent making the videos, answering questions, and keeping the site running etc. I think you should be very proud of yourself for teaching and inspiring others. Thank you, thank you.!!!!
Have a great day and thank you again for the videos, there is nothing more frustrating than becoming interested in something and as you mentioned wasting time buying books etc that don’t even help. It is so easy to be discouraged and give up.. I have seen carving for the first time on the food channel the competition. I thought that was just amazing. Then I realized I want to learn how to do that. Of what little I have learned ( before your video) I have made little simple bouquets. I have used them when our Bible Study Group has catered funerals. Where I live in Canada you don’t see carvings. I have had the family ask if they could keep the bouquet. LOL if you saw what they look like you would laugh too. I used the little bouquet on the food table and it has actually slowed or stopped the food line because people are touching, smelling and trying to figure out if it is real, how it was made. So now I have the opportunity to expand on the carving, and I truly thank you for making this a reality for me. If my carving has put a smile on one person at a funeral then it is like being paid more then what money can buy . I don’t know if this letter is even making sense I am writing it quickly because I have to get going. I hope this letter has encouraged you in some little way and your videos have encouraged me( but in a big way)
