The Taste of Peace Chef’s Organization in Jerusalem held a carving competition to celebrate International Peace Day. One of my talented customers in Israel, Tzipy Cohen served as a judge. She sent photos of the competition to share with you.

The International Day of Peace, also known as World Peace Day, is observed annually on 21 September. It is dedicated to world peace, and specifically to the absence of war and violence.
In keeping with the theme of peace, the competition flyer said, “We may have different religions, different languages, different colored skin, but we all belong to one human race.” How true, isn’t it?

This beautiful vegetable and fruit carving display was created by one of the competition judges. It features a watermelon world being held by carved hands and topped with birds of peace.
