A couple of weeks ago my husband and I were vacationing and stumbled across a Gelarto Rose shop in Budapest while exploring the square surrounding St Stephan’s Basilica. (https://gelartorosa.com/en/) The line was out the door for these eye-catching sweet treats. The employees of the shop hand form, one by one, gelato cones in the shape of roses. If you choose 2 or 3 flavors, your gelato rose cone will be made up with two or three colors.
My video was an attempt to share with you, how these are crafted. At the very least, you can see how pretty these are.
These desserts at Gelarto Rose in Budapest are organic with no emulsifiers, hydrogenated vegetable fat, or palm oil. Some are vegan. But, I suspect sales would still be brisk even if they were made of less healthy ingredients, solely because they look so enchanting.
This was something new to me. But, I’ve since discovered that there are shops in a variety of locations around the world, including a handful of cities in the United States, that serve these enchanting rose shaped gelato treats. One company that offers them is www.amorino.com. Maybe you will find a shop in a city near you, or in a city that you will visiting soon.
I don’t teach how to made gelato rose cones, however, if you want to carve beautiful roses in watermelons, I have the lessons for you. You can see my watermelon rose lessons by clicking here. It’s an even better value when you get my Carving Watermelons – Roses, Buds and Leaves video lessons as part of my Vegetable and Fruit Carving 101 Course for Beginners. You will amaze your friends with your lovely watermelon roses… and they have an advantage over gelato roses….they don’t melt.
