Today, I gave a watermelon lantern carving for a baby shower using the stork and baby from one of your lessons you taught. We had snow today, so keeping it cool was not an issue. Trying to find good fresh fruit this time of year around here seems impossible. The rose strawberries were tart along with the green grapes as the leaves so I placed it on a slice of oranges hoping to sweeten the taste. Gave up and told them not for eating just use as garnishes for around the food trays. Have you ever run into problems like this? What should I have done different?

Bernice, It sounds like you did the best that you could do under the circumstances. Sometimes, the fruit is simply not sweet. There is nothing you can do about that other than what you did. I haven’t often had that problem because I live in California. Since we are close to shipping ports, we get all sorts of fruits from all over the world all year round. Spring is here and soon you’ll have access to great fruit.
