At this time of year, you might be looking for some great ideas for Thanksgiving centerpieces. In this article, I’ve compiled some of the ideas for fall and Thanksgiving centerpieces that I have posted in previous years. I hope that these photos and 2 short video ideas give you some inspiration for your own Thanksgiving centerpieces this year.

Carved Vegetable and Fruit Thanksgiving Centerpieces

Last year, I carved a few different centerpieces including one that looked like a turkey. It was carved from kabocha squash.

 Easy Thanksgiving Centerpieces

Here is a short video showing you a super easy Thanksgiving decoration idea. You can make graceful birds using acorn squash and yellow crookneck squash. If you have the time you can carve feather and tail designs for your acorn squash bird’s body.  Or, you can just use the acorn squash without carving and you will still have a very pretty bird. These can be used as a lovely Thanksgiving decoration or as a Thanksgiving centerpiece  for your dinner table.

It’s really pretty simple. But your guests may be impressed enough to call you Martha Stewart. Take a look at this quick video to see how.

To dress these up, can can display them on a nest of curly lettuce or mustard greens and surround them with tiny decorative pumpkins and other colorful squashes that are in season. Persimmons and pomegranates would also make colorful additions for the overall display.

Carved Pumpkin Idea for Thanksgiving Centerpieces

Now that Halloween is over, pumpkins can be used as pretty lanterns for pretty Thanksgiving decorations. Take a look at this short video that shows you how my white pumpkin lantern lasted for weeks.

Even though carved pumpkin lanterns are normally associated with Halloween, they can be made with pretty and elegant designs and used as decorations all through the fall and early winter while pumpkins are easy to find in the markets. They can be used for making lovely  Thanksgiving centerpieces for your dinner party.

So, if you are looking for ideas for carved vegetable Thanksgiving centerpieces consider making pretty pumpkin lanterns. If you want a long lasting pumpkin lantern, try using a white pumpkin. I don’t know if yours will last as long, but mine sure did.

Even if you can’t find white pumpkins, a trio of orange pumpkins of varying sizes carved with pretty designs and lit from inside can be used to make striking and beautiful thanksgiving centerpieces.
