Something Small and Sweet for Mother’s Day

An individual serving of fruit arranged in a small bouquet would be fun, especially if you are serving her breakfast in bed. This square garden fruit bouquet is one of the many projects taught in my Vegetable and Fruit Carving 101 Course for Beginners.

Today, I’d like to show you photos of whimsical, wacky and fun vegetable and fruit carvings. Why? Well, March is National Nutrition Month so, naturally, I think vegetables and fruits should be in the spotlight!

I thought it would be fun to recognize March Nutrition Month by showing the playful side of vegetable and fruit carvings.

If you’ve got kids in your life who are reluctant to eat their fruits and vegetables, this ideas might be fun for them.

Roses carved from a variety root vegetables carved by Chef Muhammad Siddiqui

Here is a quick video showing a little about the beauty of the carved beet rose and some different things you can do with beet roses.

Carved Beet Roses Make a Lovely Centerpiece.

Beets come in various colors in additional to the familiar deep red color. They can also be found in shades of orange and yellow. This golden beet in the photo below had orange skin with a yellow interior. You can also find beets in shades of pink and white. Mix the red, pink and white and gold beet roses together and you have a beautifully colorful vegetable bouquet. continue reading…
