Here is a quick and easy way to make really impressive and beautiful red chili flower.
Actually, I’m going to show you 2 styles of carved chili pepper flowers. You can see how I used red chili pepper flowers in a vegetable bouquet centerpiece that I made for Thanksgiving.
The red jalapeno peppers are a good choice for this chili flower garnish because they curl nicely. You can use the same carving techniques with green jalapenos and yellow peppers but those won’t curl quite the way that red chili peppers do.
Easy Carved Chili Flower Technique
Adds WOW to your food presentation.
Make these an hour or more in advance so that the chili flower has time for it’s petals to curl after it is carved.
Once you make your chili flowers, you can use them as a garnish on a plate or you can stick them on toothpicks, and arrange so that they stand up on a base of whatever vegetables you have on hand. A bell pepper cut in half with the cut side down makes a pretty base. Green or gold bell peppers make a pretty color contrast for the red chili flowers. Then you can place your chili flower flower arrangement it in the center of a platter and surround it with cut veggies.
Make Chili Flower Vegetable Bouquets
If you skewer your carved chili flowers on longer skewers, you can add them to a bouquet with other types of vegetable flowers or you can make a bouquet with all chili pepper flowers. Place your chili flowers on skewers in a fresh bouquet of parsley or cilantro in a vase with water and you have a beautiful and vibrantly colorful vegetable flower arrangement for your table or buffet.
You can find the V-cutter tools used in this lesson in my shop. For another look U-cutters can be used in very much to same way for making chili pepper flowers. Make sure you buy fresh crisp chili peppers. If they are soft, they will be difficult to carve.
