Decorate Chocolate Covered Strawberries

chocolate dipped strawberry bouquetYesterday I posted a brief lesson showing how to make a white chocolate dipped strawberry bouquet. Today, I’ll show you a quick and easy way to decorate your white chocolate covered strawberries with contrasting semi-sweet chocolate. Watch this short video min-lesson.

You won’t need any special tools for this. A simple small sealable plastic bag is the only tool that you will need.

Here is an easy recipe for your melted chocolate. The chocolate that we will use to decorate your chocolate covered strawberries can be chocolate chips or a chocolate bar that has been chopped up and melted. To melt your chocolate, place in a glass bowl and put in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stirring after each 30 seconds.

When almost all of the chocolate has melted stir until the last few lumps melt and the melted chocolate is smooth. Do not overheat. Do not let any water come in contact with the chocolate that you are melting. Water in melted chocolate will cause your chocolate to “seize” and become lumpy and gloppy.

Let your melted chocolate cool for a few of minutes before placing in the plastic bag so that you don’t melt the plastic.

Place your melted chocolate in the plastic snack size or sandwich size bag and seal. Clip a tiny corner of the plastic bag off.  Then you can squeeze the melted chocolate from the bag over your white chocolate covered strawberries. You will see exactly how in this short video lesson.

The decorated chocolate covered strawberries are even prettier when displayed and served in a bouquet. You can add them to a bouquet using a variety of fruit flowers or you can make a bouquet using just strawberries.

After making the chcatlooe strawberry, for how much time am I supposed to keep the strawberry refrigerated? Snce when am I supposed to make a strawberry decoration or bouquet(example: I make a bouquet one night, but when I look at it the other day, it looks withered)?

For best results, make this the same day you serve it. If you make the strawberries a day ahead, seal in plastic container or zipper bag and refrigerate. Assemble the bouquet the day you plan to serve. Make sure you put water in the vase with the parsley, mint or cilantro. The water will keep the greens fresh and perky just like when you put water in a vase with flowers.
